Day 33: A Prayer of Agreement

Does prayer really make a difference? Can we really alter the outcome of situations and circumstances through prayer? Someone once said that prayer doesn't change things, it only changes the person praying, but this is completely contrary to Scripture. Prayer does change situations because God has made us partners with Him for the fulfillment of His purposes in the earth and prayer is one fundamental way in which we partner with God. The prophet Elijah is a great example of this principle.

For three years and six months Israel had been plagued by famine until God promised the prophet that He would send rain. “And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year saying, 'Go show thyself to Ahab and I will send rain upon the earth’” (1Kings 18:1). But at the end of the same chapter in which the promise was given, we see Elijah praying for the fulfillment of the promise. He cast himself down on the ground and put his face between his knees. Seven times he sent his servant to look for any sign of rain and in the meantime James 5:17 tells us that he ''prayed earnestly". One might wonder why Elijah needed to pray at all if God had already promised that He would send the answer. But Elijah understood that the promise required partnership through prayer.

Oh, how many promises there are to the Child of God who will only take a hold of them earnestly through faith and prayer. Yes! Prayer does matter. It has the power to change the world. There is a great need for prayer in the world right now! The Bible shows us that our Heavenly Father moves in power on our behalf when we pray together in agreement! “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). Faith is not even mentioned in this verse. In fact, the only requirement for the Lord to do what we ask, is for there to be more than one in agreement! Will you be my plus one, and join me in a prayer of agreement over the earth right now? Let’s pray this aloud together:

Father in heaven, we come before you from all around the globe, to agree with one another that your will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. We humble ourselves on behalf of the nations and ask you to please forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We ask for a great harvest of souls to be saved in this hour and that Your glory would cover the earth as the water covers the sea! Holy Spirit come and comfort all those who are suffering and heal every sickness and disease. Lord Jesus we ask you to rebuke the enemy on our behalf and drive back the powers of darkness with your mighty right hand. Thank you for being our peace that passes all understanding in every circumstance we face—you guard our hearts and our minds. Thank you for the cross! You have already won the war over the enemy! We come together in agreement for all these things and lay hold of the victory that You have already laid hold of for us! Thank you and praise you for all you have done and all you are doing now! In Jesus Name, Amen.
