Millions Worldwide Engage with the Unfiltered Reality: Evening News.
Every evening, millions of people around the world tune in to witness the most distressing content on television—it's called the news. The news has morphed into a real-life horror story, filled with true and tragic events. Consider some of the major news stories from recent years: economic crises, the Gulf oil spill, terrorist attacks, wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Darfur, and the list goes on. What's happening to our world? Is there a remedy for the pervasive suffering and chaos? Does God even care about us? Is there a way to transform hatred and evil into a future filled with hope? It might seem that God is distant and inactive, but the truth is that He has already intervened in our world's brokenness. Two thousand years ago, He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for our sins and the sins of humanity.
God came from Heaven to Earth, born as a man. He worked as a Jewish carpenter, lived in a nation under foreign occupation, and was surrounded by poverty, sickness, and disease. Despite this, He healed the sick, gave new life to people, offered salvation, demonstrated God's love, and transformed lives. Yet, Jesus faced powerful enemies. Ultimately, it was the political and religious leaders who conspired against Him. He was arrested, beaten, whipped, and had thorns placed on His head. He was crucified on Calvary, where He died for your sins and mine. He endured all this as part of God's plan for the salvation of our souls. God does not ignore human suffering. Unlike the grim stories on the news, the gospel not only highlights the deep flaws in humanity but also reveals God's response to it.
The Bible tells a story that beautifully illustrates God's unconditional love. It's the story of a young man who asked his father for his inheritance, left home, and wasted everything. His situation deteriorated until he found himself living and eating with pigs, fighting for survival. Eventually, he decided to return home. The Bible says that when his father saw him approaching from a distance, he had an extraordinary reaction. This father's response is a powerful metaphor for God's love for us. God loves you, my friend. He has paid the price for your sins and longs for you to come home. Consider this message by evangelist Reinhard Bonnke to understand the depth of God's love and the change He offers you today:
When the prodigal son returned, the father saw him from afar.

Despite being an old man, he ran to his son. Old men don't typically run. But the Bible tells us, that this father did! Hallelujah! Let's delve into the father in Luke chapter 15. When he saw his son, he ran. I've pondered this repeatedly. Why did he run? Because he saw his son staggering home, taking a few steps and then pausing.

The father feared that his son might change his mind and return to the pigsty. So, the father ran. If you take one step toward Jesus, He takes ten steps toward you. Hallelujah!

Here's the crucial part: the father didn't even want to hear about his son's sins. There were no words of accusation. The son had done all he needed to by coming home. Come home to Jesus. Where are you? God is ready to start a new chapter in your life. Only Jesus saves. A young man once asked me, “Why should I get saved now? I'm only 20. Life expectancy here is 80. I have 60 more years. I can get saved when I'm 70 or 79.” Then, the Holy Spirit inspired me. Do you want to hear this? I said to him, “Young man, listen carefully. The border to eternity isn't ahead of us. It runs parallel to life and can be crossed any day. You don't know if you'll be alive tomorrow. That's why the Bible says today, if you hear His voice, now is the day of salvation. You may be one step away from eternity, but right now, you are just one step away from salvation through Jesus Christ. My friend, all you need to do is call upon the name of Jesus today. If you want to set your heart right with God and come home, pray with me now.
Say, ‘Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you today as a sinner needing salvation. Lord Jesus, wash me in your blood. Forgive my sins. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Today, Lord Jesus, I receive you into my heart. Be my Savior, be my Lord, and be my closest friend. Today, Lord Jesus, I'm coming home.’ In Jesus' name, Amen.”
