A living hope
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1:3
We have a living hope! This is the glorious message of Easter. There’s not a single one of us who deserved God’s “great mercy”. We were sinners, lost and blind, but He did not leave us to die in our sin. No!
In an outpouring of love and compassion that we can barely grasp, God sent His only son, Jesus. Sparing nothing, He took on Himself our sin, our sickness, our hopelessness, our trauma and our fears. He willingly gave Himself up for us, becoming the final sacrifice to pay for our guilt once and for all. His death was already the greatest gift of love of all eternity.
But then He rose again, triumphant over the grave! He is our living, present Savior. His resurrection is the key. Because He lives, we have been given a “new birth into a living hope”. We are children of God’s new covenant, sealed with the blood of the Lamb!
This Easter, as we take time to remember His great gift of love, as we thank the Lord for the cross and the resurrection, may we be ever mindful of a lost and hurting world, longing to meet this Jesus. May we never lose sight of Jesus’ commandment to us – to share the Good News to everyone.
Our love and blessings to you this Easter season!
