With the Authority of the Name of Jesus

This year has begun with a mighty victory during our Great Gospel Campaign in Tamale, Ghana. We were very humbled by the way the Lord used us there. It is amazing how God can touch and change a whole region in just a few days. With Paul, we can truly say: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power” (1 Cor 2:4).

What we are experiencing right now at CfaN is an unprecedented, supernatural move of God in Africa. So many are getting saved, healed, delivered, filled with the Holy Spirit, and added to local churches. Countless people have committed to live for the Lord.

Because so many people attend our Great Gospel Campaigns in Africa, it is impossible to lay hands on every sick person. But with the anointing and authority of the Holy Spirit, we pray for all of them at once from the platform. The results are staggering. Many testimonies of healing and deliverance pour in.

There are no limits to God’s power. He can save countless people in the blink of an eye if they call on His Name. Likewise, He can fill thousands with His Holy Spirit when they ask Him, and He can heal a multitude in a moment. That is what we experience in Africa – and anywhere we minister to crowds of thousands.

As followers of Jesus, we have been commissioned to heal the sick. “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give” (Matt 10:7-8).

So when Reinhard and I pray for the sick from the platform, as the Spirit leads, we often command specific sicknesses to leave or conditions to change (for example, “Blind eyes, open in the Name of Jesus!”). These are commands spoken in the authority of Jesus’ name, which He has given to every one of His followers.

“Mum, I’m thirsty.”

A DEAD BOY COMES BACK TO LIFE - Suddenly the little boy opened his eyes, turned to his mother and said, “Mum – I’m thirsty!”

Sometimes these prayers of command become prophecies or words of knowledge for specific people. When this happens, we are often surprised and thrilled to hear the report later.

One incident from Ugep, Nigeria comes to mind. I prayed, “If there is anyone dead within the sound of my voice, I command life to return to your body in Jesus’ Name!” Little did I know that there was a dear mother in the crowd whose son had died the previous day. She brought him to the Campaign field, and laid his lifeless body on the ground during the meeting.

You can well imagine how the sound of the crowd’s enthusiastic shouts rose to a mighty crescendo as she stood on the platform (holding her precious son) and sharing her miracle testimony.

Through her tears of joy the mother exclaimed how immediately after I uttered the words of that prayer-command, her little boy suddenly opened his eyes, turned to her and said: “Mum, I’m thirsty.” He was alive!

Do Something You Could Not Do Before!

After prayer for the sick, we always ask people to do something they could not do before. This is an important step. Every person who prayed with us for healing must take a step of faith and experience what they received from God.

Often we hear testimonies like these: “Suddenly my blind eyes opened and I could see.” “When I bent down, I noticed the pain was gone.” “When I tried to use my arm, it was no longer paralyzed.” “When I touched my body, the tumor disappeared.”

Next, many healed people stream to the platform from all over the field. Sometimes hundreds of people make their way forward to share what God has done for them. Walking sticks and wheelchairs get lifted into the air, and people come to the stage rejoicing – often accompanied by family or friends. But how can we decide which people should testify on the platform? Usually we can only hear 10-15 testimonies per night. Without a limit, the meetings would go on indefinitely. We ask those who want to testify to come to one side of the stage, where someone from our team interviews them. Many times that person is Winfried Wentland, our CfaN Field Director.

Naturally there are those who feel healed but cannot prove it, or those who just want to be on stage for a moment. Others are so deeply moved that they cannot even speak. Our goal is to ensure that each testimony is verifiable and confirmable through one or two witnesses, a doctor’s letter or a lab report.

Official results that confirmed God had healed

For example, here is the story of Nora Tokula. She is a young girl who was suffering from sickle cell anemia. After prayer she believed in her heart that she was healed, so she immediately headed to the stage to testify before almost a quarter million people. But her father held her back. He knew that a testimony should be based on documented medical tests. So the next day, Nora’s parents took her to two different laboratories for tests. That night they returned to the Campaign with both lab results – official results that confirmed God had healed little Nora. Here you can see a video report about Nora:

We at CfaN have now received over 76 million completed decision cards at our Campaigns in Africa. Isn’t that the most fantastic news? Praise God for His goodness! It is something that amazes us, and fills me with awe and gratitude.

Thank you for every prayer, and for every financial gift. As you know, the situation in Africa is challenging in many ways. Your prayers are urgently needed. So let us “storm the heavens” together.

United with you in Jesus,

Daniel Kolenda

PS: May we ask you again to help us? The strategic Campaign in Daloa, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is before us. We are especially grateful for your support during these spring months.
